{"id":120711,"date":"2025-09-09T15:22:12","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T13:22:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.afg.asso.fr\/?p=120711"},"modified":"2025-09-09T15:22:15","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T13:22:15","slug":"initiative-objectif-biodiversite-starquest-montefiore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.afg.asso.fr\/en\/initiative-objectif-biodiversite-starquest-montefiore\/","title":{"rendered":"Initiative \u201cObjectif Biodiversit\u00e9\u201d: 17 institutional investors select Starquest-Montefiore to manage the private equity fund"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Paris, 9 September 2025 \u2013 <\/strong>The French institutional investors behind the market-wide \u00ab<em>\u202fObjectif Biodiversit\u00e9\u202f<\/em>\u00bb Initiative, launched in 2024 with Af2i \u2013 Abeille Assurances (A\u00e9ma Groupe), BNP Paribas Cardif, BPCE Assurances, Caisse des D\u00e9p\u00f4ts, CNP Assurances, EDF Gestion, MAIF, MACIF (A\u00e9ma Groupe), Malakoff Humanis, Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 G\u00e9n\u00e9rale Assurances, Cr\u00e9dit Agricole Assurances, AXA, Allianz France, A\u00c9SIO mutuelle (A\u00e9ma Groupe), PRO BTP and CARAC \u2013 now joined by the Caisse G\u00e9n\u00e9rale de Pr\u00e9voyance des Caisses d\u2019\u00c9pargne (CGP), announce the selection of the manager for the private equity fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The investors have chosen Starquest-Montefiore following a request for proposals (RFP) process supported by Jasmin Capital and I Care by BearingPoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To build the fund\u2019s portfolio, Starquest-Montefiore will primarily invest in private European and French companies active in the preservation and restoration of ecosystems, through venture capital, growth capital, and buyout operations. The fund will target an initial size of \u20ac150 million at launch, with an initial investment horizon of 10 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the second fund launched under the <em>\u00ab\u202fObjectif Biodiversit\u00e9\u202f\u00bb <\/em>Initiative, which aims to establish a robust and innovative investment framework around biodiversity challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative is also supported by AFG, IFD, France Invest and France Assureurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The investors commend the quality of the 17 proposals received during the selection process. Following oral presentations with the shortlisted candidates, the investors selected Starquest-Montefiore.<br><br>The joint proposal from Starquest-Montefiore is based on several strengths, combining:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>An operational and structured approach<\/strong>, focused on field actors and MRV (\u00ab\u202fMeasurement, Reporting and Verification\u202f\u00bb) solutions, built on robust methodological principles to ensure data reliability and indicator relevance. Technological tools (eDNA \u2013 environmental DNA, satellite data, geospatial intelligence) and their partner Darwin Data \u2013 a digital platform enabling automated KPI assessment and monitoring, as well as reporting generation \u2013 are leveraged to ensure rigorous and transparent biodiversity impact management.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clear methodological choices aligned with investor expectations, with precise targeting of action levers, robust investment processes, and integration of biodiversity objectives defined under IPBES pressure constraints.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A deep understanding of issues and expectations, demonstrating the ability of this experienced team to combine long-term ambition with operational feasibility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The management company was selected with the support of the Scientific Committee, which, as is the case for the listed fund, will advise investors throughout the fund monitoring process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the launch of the initiative, investors have relied on a scientific approach.
